Tamsin Baker Family Therapist, Relationship Counsellor, Parent Hope Coach & EMDR Practitioner
I’m Tamsin, a Family Therapist and
Relationship Counsellor, Parent Hope Coach, and EMDR Practitioner. I offer a thoughtful,
reflective space to explore the profound ways our experiences, relationships,
and broader contexts shape who we are. Family and Relationship Counselling offers
space to:
–
navigate complex emotional and relational
experiences.
–
Expand understanding of relational patterns
and heal wounds.
–
begin to shift patterns over time.
With 25 years’ experience across relationship
counselling, child and family work, family violence, sexual assault, and
international human rights, I work with individuals, couples, families, and
diverse relationship structures. I support men seeking growth in their lives
and relationships. I offer a queer-affirming space welcoming people of diverse
identities and ways of being.
My practice draws systemic and relational
approaches together, including Bowen Family Systems, Emotion Focused Therapy
(EFT), Contextual Family Therapy, and Narrative Therapy. Together, these approaches
support an understanding of how identity is shaped in relationship—exploring
themes of loyalty, responsibility, fairness, and reciprocity, bringing
awareness to stories that shape us, strengthening attachment bonds, and supporting
a balance between connection and a sense of self.
My practice encompasses human rights,
feminist, anti-oppressive, and anti-discriminatory frameworks, and is trauma
informed. I support the integration of traumatic experiences alongside
possibilities for healing, recovery, and growth, and incorporate EMDR (Eye
Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing), an evidence-based therapy that can
alleviate distress associated with trauma.
As a trained Parent Hope Coach, I value each
family’s unique culture and structure. My approach is down-to-earth and
reflective, minimising pathology while supporting creative, values-centred ways
of living, connection, and growth.
Outside of work, I love nature—walking, hiking,
being among trees, gardening, reading, and being with cherished family and
friends.
I am a member of the Australian Association
of Social Workers (AASW) and the Australian Association of Family Therapy
(AAFT).
